GRANGE Stud stallion Getaway is off to a great start at stud with his National Hunt runners and his pedigree received a boost on Sunday when a nephew Guignol won his second Group 1 races, the 12-furlong Grosser Preis von Baden, to add to last year’s victory in the Grosser Preis von Bayern.

The son of the deceased Cape Cross (Green Desert) is one of 13 winners at this level for the former Kildangan Stud resident, and who can forget that he is also responsible for such racing stars as Ouija Board (the dam of Australia (Galileo)), the 2015 Derby and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Golden Horn, the Derby and Arc winner Sea The Stars (now a multiple Group 1 sire) and last year’s classic winning miler Awtaad.
