KARPINO is the latest addition to the stallion ranks at Rathbarry and Glenview Studs in Fermoy, Co Cork.

A classic-winning son of Cape Cross, he joins Malinas, Shirocco, Robin Des Champs and Sholokhov on the Glenview roster for 2018. His fee has not yet been announced.

When he raced under Sheikh Fahad's Pearl Bloodstock banner, Karpino won as a two-year-old by four lengths. An easy Group 3 win in the spring of his three-year-old career saw him start favourite for the German 2000 Guineas, which he won comfortably by almost five lengths.

Immediately after the race Karpino was talked of as an Epsom Derby supplementary injury but connections decided to wait for the German Derby. Unfortunately injury forced him to miss that race and he never raced again.

Karpino boasts a stallion’s pedigree as his dam Kahara is a blacktype full-sister to Milan and is from the immediate family of successful sire Kahyasi.

Paul Cashman said: "Karpino is an outstanding-looking individual with plenty of size and substance and should be an exciting prospect for National Hunt breeders."
