GER Lyons no longer trains for Sheikh Fahad's Qatar Racing. The trainer posted the news on his website on Tuesday morning.

Lyons trained Lightening Pearl to win the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes for Sheikh Fahad's Pearl Bloodstock in 2011, and just last week Lyons trained that filly's Frankel daughter Lightening Quick won the Group 3 Athasi Stakes at Naas.

According to the Qatar Racing website, Lyons had four in-training from Qatar Racing and one for Pearl Bloodstock.

Lyons wrote: "It is with regret that I have to announce I will no longer be training for Qatar Racing as from yesterday. We have had some good times and I was delighted to have trained Sheikh Fahad his first ever winner with Wade Giles.

"Another fantastic day was when we won the Cheveley Park Stakes with Lightening Pearl giving us both our first ever Group 1 win.

"Time waits for no man and last Monday was another great thrill when we won the Group 3 Athasi Stakes at Naas with Lightening Pearl's daughter Lightening Quick, making her a very valuable broodmare prospect.

"I wish her, Sheikh Fahad and all the Qatar Racing team all the very best in the future and thank them for their fantastic support over the years."

Qatar Racing and Pearl Bloodstock also have horses in training in Ireland with Joseph O'Brien, Gordon Elliott, Willie Mullins and Johnny Murtagh. Qatar Racing won a listed race at Windsor on Monday night with the David Simcock-trained Arod.

In total Qatar Racing has 94 horses in training around the world and Pearl Bloodstock has 15.
