BETTER known as a show jumper and producer of young event horses, Gemma Phelan enjoyed success in the point-to-point sphere last Sunday when saddling her own Dr Cuddles to land the confined maiden at Dungarvan.

Making his debut at the age of seven, the Dr Massini gelding was held up in the early stages by Johnny Barry but, taking closer order on the final circuit, went to the front after two out before surging clear to score by a comfortable 10 lengths. Dr Cuddles was crediting Phelan with her first victory between the flags from just three runners.
