IT wasn’t the strongest edition of the Grade 3 Rockshore Novice Chase but Jessica Harrington’s Polished Steel did all that was asked of him and more to make it two wins from as many starts over fences in this two-and-a-quarter-mile affair.

The Robbie Power-ridden winner produced a fluent and sound round of jumping from the front but the same could not be said of a number of his rivals who didn’t help their respective causes with various errors. One of those was the favourite Russian Diamond who exited at the first fence on the final circuit and his departure looked to present Polished Steel with a gilt-edged opportunity.
