Looking back at the British NH season, the Paul Nicholls-tutored trainers, Harry Fry and Dan Skelton both continued to impress in 2016. Each proved very capable of readying one for big targets and the competitive heat of Cheltenham was a particular success. Fry’s Unowhatimeanharry was backed in to 7/2 for a handicap hurdle at Cheltenham’s November meeting and continued to move up through handicaps eventually, stepping up in class for five wins culminating in the Grade 1 Albert Bartlett at the festival. The same day in November Dan Skelton’s Superb Story finished second in the Greatwood Hurdle and was put away to be targeted at the County Hurdle. Perfect planning.
