THE Irish Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association has brought forward its annual yearling sales preparation workshop to next Thursday, August 5th.

Staged online, the workshop runs from 10am to 1pm and is free to attend. Topics covered will include farriery, nutrition, transportation and veterinary.

Serena Iceton of Troytown Equine Hospital will cover matters to be considered for selling foals at public auction, as well as the importance of a good vaccination programme and the implementation of good practice.

Lorraine Fradl, an equine nutritionist, will talk about the benefits and importance of a good feeding programme for yearlings in the run up to the sales season. Martin Payne will cover the importance of correct farriery in sales-bound yearlings, and Declan Murray will cover the paperwork requirements and considerations for transporting yearlings to sales outside of Ireland.
