ISHIGURU (by Danzig) looked like a potential star in the making when taking a six-furlong Naas maiden by 11 lengths on his second and final juvenile outing, back in 2000, an excitement fuelled in part by his pedigree.

The son of one of the world’s greatest sires and of the Grade 1 winning mare Strategic Maneuver (by Cryptoclearance), he did not reach the heights that such an effort suggested, but he was, nonetheless, a high-class sprinter who won the Group 3 Flying Five at Leopardstown, and the Listed Belgrave Stakes at the Curragh.
