FRAN Berry could be sidelined for up to six weeks after fracturing his foot at Lingfield on Thursday.

The leading jockey was due to partner The Bear Can Fly for his boss Ralph Beckett in the opening fillies' maiden when his mount became unruly in the stalls and had to be withdrawn.

Berry said: "It's a clean fracture. It happened when the filly reared up in the stalls and I just got pinned there for a while. I'll go and see the surgeon on Tuesday for another update, but it doesn't look like I'll need surgery, thankfully."

He added: "I'm probably going to be out for somewhere between four and six weeks. Hopefully I'll be back in December and the original plan was to keep riding here until Christmas, so we'll stick to that and see where we are then."
