THE opening race on Champions Day at Ascot was the Group 2 Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup, and although its line-up included established celebrities such as Leading Light and Estimate, it was won by a lightly-raced and undefeated four-year-old with the potential to become a Group 1 star in 2015.

Forgotten Rules made his debut in a Punchestown bumper in April, which he won by 13 lengths, and his next start came at Galway in early August when he beat the talented mare Shu Lewis by eight lengths in a 14-furlong contest on soft ground.
