The rain has eventually arrived but unfortunately a bit too late this week for some point-to-points which have been moved to a later date. Feedback from many of the point-to-point trainers is that they have some smart four-year-olds ready to run, but the most important thing for them is to keep their horses in one piece, so trainers will just have to sit tight until the ground comes right.
The Westmeaths expect to have safe ground tomorrow and I know they have worked hard to get it right. This time last year I remember getting soaked on a cold day at Castletown-Geoghegan and it is a kindly reminder that our industry is so climate-reliant.
