There was a landmark victory in Horse Racing Ireland’s IRE Incentive scheme at Goodwood on Saturday as the British European Breeders Fund EBF Maiden Stakes, the first scheme race to be run in Britain, was won by the Andrew Balding-trained Imperial Fighter.

As the winner was Irish-bred, owner Michael Blencowe was awarded a €10,000 IRE Incentive voucher to spend on Irish-breds at Irish sales.

The IRE Incentive scheme has now awarded €450,000 in Irish sales vouchers to 36 individual owners since its launch in March 2021. Initially launching in Ireland, the scheme is now expanding to Britain. Further British-based races will be announced in due course.

To be eligible to win a voucher, runners in relevant races need only be Irish-bred and Foal Levy compliant.
