ALL eyes will be on the Amber Springs Hotel this evening as Grand Prix winner and British Nations Cup winner Dougie Douglas (ISH) will be the first to be sold in the Goresbridge Supreme Sale of Showjumpers.

This evening's auction and gala dinner kicks off with a champagne reception at 6pm with the auction starting at 7pm. It is being live-streamed throughout the world.

Fireworks are expected for Lot 101 Goresbridge graduate Dougie Douglas (ISH), the 10-year-old liver chesnut gelding by Ard VDL Douglas out of Neills Girl (High Roller). Owned by Graham Smith, the prolific Grand Prix winner has been campaigned throughout his glittering career by Britain's Holly Gillott.

Smith sourced his top horse at Goresbridge as a broken and ridden four-year-old at the Goresbridge 2009 September Sport Horse Performance Sale. It turned out to be a spectacular buy on his part as the special horse racked up one win after another.

Last year, Dougie Douglas was part of the British team that won 1.60m Nations Cup in Odense, Denmark and more was to come when the brilliant gelding also landed the 1.60m Grand Prix at the venue.

Dougie Douglas won the 1.45m Lummen Grand Prix in April and the Bunn Leisure Derby Trial (1.60m) at Hickstead in June. His most recent international appearances were at the Champions' Tour in Vilamoura, Portugal, where he showed himself to be in excellent form winning and placing second in two FEI ranking 1.45m classes.

Goresbridge auctioneer Martin Donohoe said: "It's an honour and a pleasure to get a horse of this calibre for the sale. A lot of people have tried to buy this horse from Graham over the years but he has put them off time and time again and now, Dougie Douglas is coming to our public sale where he'll be there for everyone to buy. I'm extremely proud that Graham is putting his faith and trust in us to sell the horse for him."

An update with the latest news from this evening's sale will be posted on www.theirishfield.ie tonight.
