FEHL chairman Harold McGahern has confirmed that the company is to be wound up at the conclusion of the 2014 season. In a letter to The Irish Field, published on A63, McGahern said that there was now an abundance of classes for young event horses to compete in and some producers were in danger of over-exposing their animals.

Speaking to Irish Horse World, he added that by announcing the end of the FEHL now, when a strategic review of the sport horse industry was underway, there was a chance that the concept could be continued by others.
