WHAT does second place in the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBFSH) studbook title race mean for the Irish Sport Horse? And with the studbook dropping another place this year to its lowest result yet of 15th place in show jumping, the historic result at the WBFSH young horse championships at Lanaken could not have been more timely.

Likewise, with three medals won by Irish Sport Horses at the eventing equivalent at Le Lion D’Angers last weekend and two four-star wins at Kentucky and Burghley by Cooley Master Class and Ringwood Sky Boy, there are still plenty of headlines being generated by both the next generation and established Irish-breds.
