FAUGHEEN is reported to be “sore but fine” following his fall in Friday’s Christmas Hurdle at Leopardstown.

The 10-year-old came down at the penultimate flight when on the heels of eventual winner Apple’s Jade, with the nine-time Grade 1 winner remaining on the ground for a short spell before eventually getting to his feet and walking back in with jockey Ruby Walsh.

Trainer Willie Mullins says his charge is in “good order”, despite his tumble, with future plans up in the air as the popular veteran recovers from his mishap.

“He’s fine. He’s sore this morning, but he’s fine,” said Mullins “He’s going to be sore for a few days. We’ll have to see how he is. We’ll leave him for the weekend and probably just hand-walk him.

“Ruby hadn’t asked the question, but who knows what would have happened as it was so far out? Anyway, he’s in good order.”
