THE Champion Hurdle appears to be Faugheen’s to lose. A second easy win in the Christmas Hurdle in a decent time against pretty much the best of Britain secures his position after that blip at Punchestown.
While still clinging to the belief that the four-year-olds of last year cannot all be top class, it has to be noted they are winning a lot of races. Lil Rockerfeller and Sternrubin have won big handicaps in December, and Baron Alco won the handicap hurdle at Kempton on St Stephen’s Day. Dicosimo, eighth in the Triumph last year was very impressive at Limerick and is an interesting horse wherever Willie Mullins points him.
