THE eagerly awaited start to this summer’s round of National Hunt store sales got off to encouraging start on Tuesday as the newly inaugurated Tattersalls Ireland May Store Sale produced a set of results that look to bode well for the coming weeks.

The one-day sale produced an aggregate of just over €2.2m and an average of €15,180 while the median came in at €13,000. In addition the clearance rate was 76%, all of which made for a very solid edition of this sale and offered cause for encouragement for the coming weeks which will culminate in a return to Tattersalls Ireland for the Derby Sale in late June.
