AFTER that epoch-defining success at Aintree, Rachael Blackmore returned to the matter of chasing down Paul Townend in the jockeys’ championship and she narrowed his lead to 10 after landing the rated novice chase on Henry de Bromhead’s Somptueux.

This near two-and-three-quarter-mile event was restricted to horses rated 135 or less and it served up a cracking spectacle as all six of the runners held every chance with three to jump and also at the second last.
