POLLY Holohan clocked up her first win of the current campaign when she landed the EI105 aboard Edmund Crotty’s Connemara pony Ballinaclough Caruso. The home-bred son of Fairyhill Tomboy had filled third place on the flat (25.5), and despite adding a further two time penalties, completed ahead of Annalise Cullen with the clean jumping AC Remus. In third place, Zoe Kavanagh had an expensive rail in the show jumping, but more often seen in EI100 amateur company, she will have been pleased with her upgraded run with Lislan Fernando.

Fethard-based Holohan was delighted with her winner, who now an eight-year-old, was only broken in two years ago. “He was very sharp. but we’ve given him time and he’s come around beautifully,” she remarked. “This level (1.05) is ideal for him at the moment, although we do think he is a potentially top-class junior prospect. He has so much power, it’s just like riding a horse.”
