TWO winners came out of one class at Punchestown last Saturday when the Patrick Whelan-ridden Rehy Royal Occasion landed the Horse Sport Ireland EI110 Eventing Series Final but the Clare Abbott-partnered Malcolm X, who finished sixth on the day, was crowned series champion.

Thirty combinations came before Maire Quinlan-Pluck who was most impressed by the performance of Sarah Ennis and the six-year-old OBOS Quality 004 mare KSH Touch Of Quality who topped her leaderboard on 27.3 penalties. Whelan and Rehy Royal Occasion were just a point adrift at this stage, ahead of Jonny Steele on Rockfall (28.5) and Abbott with Malcolm X (29.3).
