CRECORA’s second affiliated event of the season attracted a healthy number of entrants and, running over some well-prepared ground, presented riders of all levels with a number of new challenges.

Always innovative, the father and son team of Gerald and Dominic Furnell had worked hard both to keep the tracks fresh, and to provide the best going possible. They had been assisted by a good spell of rain earlier in the week, together with some massive efforts by Dave Buston and the Agrivator. Buston, from nearby Limerick Racecourse, was ready to set off on holiday on Saturday, but making an early start, he was able to put in four hours of spiking before the competition got underway. Part of the new course ran over land at the far end of the farm, which is currently being opened up to provide a new point-to-point course for the Limerick Harriers hunt.
