IRELAND'S incredible run of results at youth level in equestrian sport continued on Sunday as the GAIN Irish Under 16 (Pony) Eventing team won the team silver medal at the European Pony Eventing Championships at Bishop Burton in England, where Kildare's Sophie Foyle also took the individual silver medal.

The Irish team of Isabelle Comerford (Colour Me Fancy (ISH)), Chloe Fagan (Fernhill Timbacktoo), Holly Love with (Cloughreagh Charlie (ISH)(TIH)) and Harry Swan with Wilderwood Storm (ISH), led by team manager Becky Cullen, were in fourth place after the opening dressage phase.

They moved into silver medal position after Saturday's cross country with all four Irish riders jumping clear. Ireland added just eight penalties in the final show jumping phase to finish on a total of 107.5.

The home team from Britain took gold on 101.0, while France claimed the bronze on 108.5.

The individual competition saw Sophie Foyle jump a brilliant final clear round to take the individual silver medal on a final score of 32.10.

Britain's Saffron Osborne and Little Indian Feather claimed the gold on 28.0, while Daisy Proctor (GBR) and Holiday Cruise took bronze on 32.20.

Chloe Fagan finished just outside the individual medals in fifth, with Ava Banahan (Regent Des Mauvis) in ninth, Harry Swan 11th, Isabelle Comerford 14th and Holly Love with Cloughreagh Charlie (ISH)(TIH) in 17th place.

Horse Sport Ireland CEO Ronan Murphy said: "This really is a superb result from our riders as a team and also individually. They were hugely impressive in all three phases and put themselves in a great position on the final day.

"They showed incredible composure to bring home the team silver medal along with individual silver for Sophie Foyle.

"I want to congratulate all our team and individual riders and their familes, our pony eventing team manager Becky Cullen and thank all our loyal sponsors."
