The young rider partnered Capuccino, owned by Stall Kubberoed, in a clear round in winning time of 27.94 seconds, some 0.64 faster than his nearest rival, Germany’s Henrik Griese. Joining McMahon in the top 10 were Gavin Harley and McVeigh, who finished in seventh place in 30.89, and Riger McCrea, who finished in eighth place with Witro in a time of 31.31.

Alex Duffy also won a 1.40m seven-year-old class on the Wednesday of the show. Riding Idream, Duffy finished clear in 28.89, ahead of Roy Weel and Quite A Flower in second place on 30.05.
