THE popular rider Roger Quinlan has called time on a hugely successful riding career between the flags which has spanned across three decades and seen him associated with some of the best known equine exports from within the point-to-point fields.

From his first success in the sphere aboard the late Dessie Hughes’ Five Rascals at Punchestown in 2001, to his latest on Smokin’ Vinnie at Ballyragget in mid-March on what proved to be the final day of last season, the Tipperary native rode a total of 193 point-to-point winners on a list of horses that would be the envy of any rider starting out in the sphere.
