Entries open for barrier trials

THE next session of Irish EBF Barrier Trials takes place at Dundalk Stadium on Wednesday week, August 18th. Entries are now being taken and close next Wednesday, August 11th.

Irish Thoroughbred Marketing, with the backing of the Irish EBF and the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board, hold barrier trials on several occasions each year, to meet the strong demand from overseas for quality unraced thoroughbreds.

The trials are confined to unraced two- and three-year-olds. Staged over five, six and seven furlongs, the entry fee if €180 with a mandatory provision of €80 for jockeys.

Horses entered must be returned in training with licensed trainers, be named and have a starting stalls certificate. There is no onus or incentive to achieve a best possible placing and no prize money on offer.

The August 18th session will start at the earlier time of noon, and trials will be run approximately every 20 minutes.

The IHRB has requested declarations, including jockeys, to be submitted by noon on Friday, August 13th.

Those attending will be required to register through the IHRB health screening process as per normal racedays and temperatures will be checked on arrival at the racecourse. Failure to register will deny entry to the barrier trials.
