THE retirement of the Prix de l’Arc winner Sottsass to Coolmore for 2021, and the news yesterday that Pinatubo will join the Darley stallion roster next season, are two pieces of news which show that the breeding industry continues to forward plan, even in these challenging times. Group 1 Sussex Stakes winner Mohaather is another set to begin his stallion career on Shadwell’s Nunnery Stud roster next year.

These may herald the announcement of more stallion acquisitions, and will instil a degree of confidence in the future of the breeding industry which is undergoing change at present. We are seeing that change as the yearling sales progress, and on Thursday Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale concluded.
