AS one gets older you think you have seen it all. Well, Cheltenham 2019 showed that there is always a new experience around the corner, and even seasoned racegoers can be moved by a variety of happenings and events.

Emotions ran high this week in the Cotswolds, and few days pulled on the heartstrings like Thursday. What joy it was to watch the unbridled excitement of Andrew Gemmell, blind since birth, as he willed his Paisley Park home to an unforgettable victory in the Stayers’ Hurdle. This came just after Bryony Frost won a landmark first Grade 1 over hurdles or fences for a female jockey at the Festival.
