BROTHERS John, Dermot and Bill Dwan have launched a new bloodstock investment vehicle open to members of the public and those already involved in the industry.

Irish Thoroughbred Capital will invest in a portfolio of “quality bloodstock assets”, predominantly young flat-bred broodmares, which will be bred to high quality stallions.

Dermot Dwan explained: “The principal objective is to deliver positive returns to investors in the medium term. The term of the investment is five years, at which stage all stock and assets will be sold.

“It is anticipated that the investors will receive their investment back, plus a 52% overall return, subject to there being available funds on the dissolution of the investment vehicle,” he added.

The venture will be managed by the three brothers, all of whom have a proven track record in the bloodstock industry with over 65 years’ experience between them.

Bill Dwan’s The Castlebridge Consignment is among the leading consignors at all the major European sales. The Dwans also have experience in purchasing broodmares and foals for resale and horse husbandry.

SIGNIFICANT INTEREST

Dermot Dwan reports that there has already been significant interest shown in ITC.

“With the supply and demand of European thoroughbred bloodstock back to more amenable levels, and a number of new international players willing to invest in high-end bloodstock, rebounding markets became a consistent feature of the 2013 and 2014 European sales season.

“The global bloodstock market is significant and the liquidity of the underlying assets makes it an attractive investment,” he said.
