MICHAEL Halford notched up his second double of the winter season with two horses who could easily be adding to their haul on the polytrack over the coming weeks and the trainer’s brace concluded with an especially well-deserved success for Orchid Gardens in the mile maiden.

This Wendy O’Leary-owned filly had never run a bad race since making her debut here in January and she lined up having reached the first four on all nine of her career starts which included a listed third and two fourth-placed efforts in premier handicaps.
