DUNDALK’S Friday evening meeting last week got off to a rather dramatic start with a stalls malfunction in the claimer which could have led to serious injury but from which thankfully everyone was able to emerge unscathed.

Before the last of the runners were loaded, the stalls opened and a handler found himself in front of the gates. The handler, Paddy McLoughlin, was knocked sideways by one of the runners when they jumped out and this pushed him into the path of another contestant. Happily though, this was as serious as the incident got and the handler and all other participants emerged from the incident unscathed.
