THE British-bred pony Bunbury Suarez brought up a long-term hat-trick in Ring 1 on Sunday morning when he added victory in the Southside Contract and Carpet Cleaners show hunter starter stakes class to those he recorded at the 2018 and 2019 Dublin Horse Shows.

Not too surprisingly, there has been a change of ownership and rider in the interim with the 11-year-old Millcroft Beluga gelding now being ridden for Jennie Curran by her daughter Amira. The Co Kildare combination has been enjoying a very successful season and at the recent Irish Pony Society summer championships at Castle Irvine, Necarne they rounded off the two-day fixture by claiming the show’s Mountain and Moorland championship.

Second

Here, Ella Connolly finished second on the 16-year-old Welsh gelding Twyford Captain Morgan while, with a new rider, Ellie Rogan, in the saddle, there was a third-place finish for Marjorie Hardiman’s very consistent 14-year-old skewbald mare, Creganna Dancer (by Moores Clover). This class was judged by Madeleine Beckman and Stuart Hollings.
