THE 2016/17 season recommenced with the Kanturk-Duhallow meeting at the ever-dependable Dromahane circuit on Wednesday and, despite the counter attraction of the third day of the Limerick Christmas meeting, an excellent crowd travelled to the popular Mallow venue.

Warren Ewing set out with his son Sam on a five-hour trek to Dromahane at 5.15am from his Co Antrim base, but the marathon trip proved well worthwhile as the owner/trainer struck with the once-raced Cabaret Queen in the ultra-competitive the Hunt Committee four-year-old mares’ maiden.
