DRESSAGE: Reynolds breaks 80% to set new Irish record
on 06 February 2019
Kildare dressage rider Judy Reynolds and Vancouver K set a new Irish record of 80.290%

KILDARE dressage rider Judy Reynolds and the Joe and Kathleen Reynolds-owned gelding Vancouver K, have set a new Irish record score of 80.290% on their way to a seventh place finish against a world class field in today’s (Saturday) FEI World Cup Freestyle To Music Grand Prix in Amsterdam.

A stunning performance from the Irish pair saw them smash their previous Irish record of 79.70% set in Doha, Qatar, in March 2016.

Speaking afterwards, Reynolds was thrilled to set a new record and has now set her sights on the 2019 European Championships which take place at Rotterdam in August.

“I’m really delighted to break 80% and set a new Irish international record score. It has been coming for a while and great to achieve it here in Amsterdam in a very hot class. It is the year of the European championships and I hope that there is more to come this season,” she said.

Reigning FEI World Cup champion and six-time Olympic Gold medalist, Germany’s Isabell Werth, took the winner's prize with Weihegold OLD on a score 86.810%.

Judy Reynolds and Vancouver K finished fifth in the FEI World Cup Grand Prix in Amsterdam on Friday, coming on the back of two more fifth place finishes at the Mechelen World Cup show in Belgium last month.

Horse Sport Ireland CEO Ronan Murphy said:“Massive congratulations to Judy on setting another new Irish record score in today’s World Cup. Judy continues to be an incredible inspiration and ambassador for the sport of dressage in Ireland. Judy’s performances with Vancouver K on the world stage over the past number of years have been simply outstanding.”

The result in Amsterdam moves Judy Reynolds up to 21st place on the Western European World Cup league table with two qualifying rounds remaining.
