IRISH dressage rider Anna Merveldt has finished in equal eighth place in Saturday's FEI World Cup Grand Prix at Salzburg in Austria.

Riding the 10-year-old gelding Esporim, Merveldt scored 68.326% to match the score of Germany’s Helen Langehanenberg and Annabelle in a competition that attracted 15 competitors.

German superstar Isabell Werth took victory with Emilio on a score of 78.957% and Benjamin Werndl (GER) took the runner-up spot with Daily Mirror on 77.717% ahead of French third place finisher Morgan Barbancon and Sir Donnerhall II on a score of 72.304%.

Today’s result comes on the back of two top five finishes for Anna Merveldt and Esporim at the four-star show German show in Munich a fortnight ago.
