DOWNPATRICK stages its first meeting of the year on Sunday when the toalsbet.com Ulster National is the feature race. The track reports that all hospitality packages were sold out months in advance.

There are 10 runners declared for the feature race, headed by last year's third place finisher Out Sam, who carries top weight of 12st 1lb. His trainer Gordon Elliott also runs Space Cadet. Willie Mullins sends Undressed but stable jockey Paul Townend rides Danse Away for Cork trainer T.J. Nagle. Dual course winner Teachers Pet is another interesting contender.

There will be live music for all racegoers before and after racing. Entertainment on track will include children’s face painting, spot prizes, a parade of the East Down Foxhounds, and "an auction of items and promises" after racing.

The winner of the WKD Most Appropriately Dressed Lady Competition will win a trip for two to Paris which includes return flights, two nights in four-star hotel along with dinner on the River Seine aboard the Bateaux Mouches.

Gates open at noon and racing starts at 2.15pm.
