IT’S a weekend to savour, this one. It always is. Leopardstown today, The Curragh tomorrow, Doncaster today, Longchamp tomorrow. Group 1 races everywhere you look.

Hurricane Lane is a short-priced favourite for this afternoon’s Cazoo St Leger at Doncaster, and there are lots of positives. Third in the Epsom Derby when he didn’t have the ideal run through the race, the Godolphin colt showed lots of stamina and resolution to get up and win the Irish Derby from an unpromising position. Then he stepped up on that last time when he ran out a really impressive winner of the Grand Prix de Paris on Bastille Day at Longchamp, leaving Wordsworth, Alenquer and The Mediterranean in his wake.
