HOPEFULLY, Sandown passes this morning’s inspection because, the hurdles may be lost, but there is a high-quality all-chase card in store, headed up by the Grade 1 Virgin Bet Scilly Isles Novices’ Chase and the Grade 2 Virgin Bet Cotswold Chase, re-routed from Cheltenham last week.

The move from Sandown to Cheltenham probably isn’t a positive for Santini in the latter contest. Nicky Henderson’s horse is one for one at the Esher track, but he wasn’t impressive in getting home by a head on his lone visit there in November last season, giving 6lb to a horse who was rated almost 19lb his inferior.
