THIS is turning out to be a strange campaign for today’s Sprint Cup favourite Limato. A top six- and seven-furlong horse last season, he made his debut this season in the Lockinge Stakes over a mile, when a lack of stamina probably proved to be his undoing.
The July Cup was a good race for him after that, back over six furlongs, eight weeks after his Lockinge Stakes run, and he duly won that, probably putting up the best performance of his life in the process.
