After watching Parish Hall (37-pace adjusted 39) run the top class Magician to a neck at the Curragh, I was reminded of a verse from the Bible: “And from them that hath not shall be taken away even that which they seemeth to have.”

The verse came to mind because all the post race discussion was about Magician. But let’s not forget Parish Hall is a Group 1 winner who just happens to have an absolute need for fast ground. He’s lost all eight times the words ‘yielding’, ‘soft’ or ‘heavy’ have appeared in the official going description but this was his first defeat in five starts on faster ground.
