Ridden by Lesley Webb, the chesnut, who looks an ideal eventing type, was only second in her ladies’ astride class, behind Lyndsey O’Brien’s owner-ridden 11-year-old Olympic Lux gelding Mr Shakespeare. However, she beat that Co Limerick-produced grey into second in their lightweight class en route to claiming the hunter title.

Mr Shakespeare also had to settle for reserve honours in the supreme judging with second reserve being the champion ridden cob, Sam McAteer’s Randalstown Designer Stubble, a seven-year-old chesnut gelding who was also ridden in his class by Webb.
