HE has had to be patient throughout the second half of the season and Willie McCreery must have felt that the wait to get Up Helly Aa back to the track was at times interminable but the trainer’s patience was rewarded as this colt of considerable promise bagged the Listed Navigation Stakes to headline a 411/1 treble for Billy Lee.

A son of Galileo and the trainer’s Group 1 winner Fiesolana, this lightly raced three-year-old came into this mile event off just three previous runs and the last of those came when he took second in the Meld Stakes in mid-July. Thus the Flaxman Stables-owned 11/4 favourite had inexperience and a 75-day absence to overcome and at times in the race he looked comparatively raw.
