STANDING in a floodlit yard one late night last August, I got chatting to a man who had transported a rather precious cargo of mares from France to Fermanagh. It was a heady mix of anxiety, relief and elation as the horses made there way one by one down the ramp and into the damp Irish night. The man was ‘no fuss’ and got the job done showing the utmost care and consideration for the mares.
