The Queen Mother Champion Chase has been a race full of questions all season. Altior returned impressively on Saturday but Douvan’s participation still remains in doubt. While Politologue has stepped up in the meantime, an even more formidable challenger emerged at the Dublin Racing Festival in the shape of Min. The seven-year-old prospects at the very highest level had been called into question by his struggle to see off the well-exposed Simply Ned at Leopardstown’s Christmas meeting, but his effort in the Dublin Chase was much more like it. He thrived with a strong pace in front of him, settling better than he had at Christmas and jumping his way into contention prior to powering away up the run-in for an easy success. It was an effort that put the big guns on notice that the Champion Chase is anything but a two-horse race and he can be expected to play a major role in the race on the day.
