DESPITE a couple of sudden heavy showers, which were in contrast to Saturday’s balmy conditions, competition in the horse classes at Charleville Show on Sunday was red-hot.

Large arenas on Charleville’s 100-acre site are a bonus for ridden horse owners on pre-Dublin missions while, for others, a Charleville red ribbon was as coveted as a front row place at Mike Denver’s Sunday afternoon performance. The popular country and western star attracted busloads of fans from as far afield as Waterford.
