ALL eyes were on the sales in Newmarket this week and speculation was rife about whether the apparent change in policy, exercised at Goffs by Godolphin when they purchased a daughter of Galileo from Ballylinch Stud for €1.2 million, would continue at Tattersalls.

As expected, it did and Sheikh Mohammed’s team took home four more yearlings by Galileo, as well as one each by Mastercraftsman and Australia. They won a prolonged battle for the sale-topper at four million guineas, outlasting the Coolmore team. The traffic flow in the other direction was limited to M.V. Magnier partnering with Mayfair Speculators to acquire a Dubawi son of the champion Sky Lantern, albeit for two million guineas.
