EVEN though last week’s Cavan renewal could not match the higher returns of 12 months ago, the one-day fixture delivered a satisfactory, workmanlike trade. Demand for ponies and ridden Connemara stock was particularly lively, and illustrating that vendors were in the mood to sell, 72% (75% in 2017) of the 91 lots on offer changed hands, leading to an average of €2,796 (€2,881) and a top figure of €6,000 (€10,200).
