THERE were some good prices, but also some disappointing ones, at Wednesday’s premier three-year-old sale in Cavan where selective purchasers were looking for horses with looks, movement, jump and pedigree – especially if they were by commercially popular stallions.

Filling the criteria to top the sale was Capa Quadilou (Lot 52), winner of the colts and geldings’ section of the three-year-old loose performance jumping championship at the recent Dublin Horse Show. Consigned by his Co Waterford breeder, William Buckley, the bay gelding is by the Oldenburg stallion, OBOS Quality 004, out of the Tinkas Boy mare Dilou M who has bred four other foals for Buckley.
