OPENING Thursday’s business was a significantly reduced catalogue of Irish Draughts. Just 30 horses passed through the ring, in comparison to 56 lots in 2019, and the resulting figures illustrated a decreased clearance of 60% (80%) but an increased average of €2,272 (€2,039).

The top prices neatly fell to representatives of each age group and six lots realised €3,000 and above. First up was Jackie Lee’s Las (Lot 206) a filly foal by Farmhill Highlander out of Echo Lady (Echo King). The third foal, she was secured by Welsh visitor Alan Davies for the day’s best price of €3,500.
