AS he enters the last couple of months of his sixth season’s racing the vastly experienced Canary Row produced his finest performance to date to land the Vincent O’Brien Ruby Stakes for Patrick Prendergast and Ronan Whelan.

The seven-year-old, who was by some distance the oldest horse in the line up for this one mile listed contest, was returning to stakes level for the first time since April 2013. Several of his recent handicap efforts suggested he was far from a forlorn hope though and the Rick Barnes-owned and bred gelding didn’t go ignored in the betting at 15/2.
